Charlotte Ewart (choreographer)Charlotte worked as a contemporary dancer and choreographer before an audition at the Royal Opera House introduced her to the world of period dance. She has since amassed a choreographic body of work that spans many centuries of dance. Her MA thesis focused on recreating the French Estampies which was subsequently performed at the Medieval Music in the Dales festival. She has recreated the dance for several 16th/17th century Court Masques including Tempe Restored and The Masque of Augers at the Banqueting House for Historic Royal Palaces, and Loves Welcome at Bolsover Castle for English Heritage in conjunction with Brunel University. She has been known to occasionally move into the later period of Ragtime and Charleston teaching workshops at may festivals including Bestival. She has consulted and choreographed Medieval and Tudor dance for the History Channel and American TV show Knightfall and delivered papers at the conferences for the Early Dance Circle, Society of Dance Research and University of Huddersfield. She runs the annual summer school for the Historical Dance Society and is the Period Dance teacher at the London Dramatic Academy. In Sept 2017 she will be the Associate Artist at Historic Royal Palaces working as event movement director and choreographer and researching dance in the court of Henry VIII.
